Corona 2021Back to homepage
COVID-19 measures have resulted in difficult times. This applies to both rightsholders who are represented by Buma, Sena and Videma (musicians, composers, music publishers and producers, rightsholders in tv-productions) and businesses that have a license for music usage.
Having a mutual awareness of the situation, the VNO-NCW Copyright Commission (Commissie Auteursrecht) and MKB-Nederland (Small and Medium-sized Businesses) and Buma, Sena and Videma have entered into discussions with each other on behalf of the heavily hit sectors. Buma, Sena and Videma have decided to offer compensation to businesses that have a license for music in commercial, publicly accessible spaces.
The Buma and Sena compensation scheme applies to two groups of businesses.
Group 1: Mandatory closed sectors with commercial, publicly accessible spaces receive 100% compensation of the license fee for the period of the government imposed mandatory closure due to COVID-19.
Group 2: All commercial establishments with publicly accessible spaces where, by order of the government, there are specific mandatory closed business units, there is 100% compensation of the relevant license fee for the mandatory closure period that is stated on Rijksoverheid.nl.
You receive any compensation via your sector organization. If you have questions, please contact your sector organization.
All businesses that are eligible for the compensation scheme will be notified of this. You don’t have to take any action yourself.
After sending the credit note, we transfer the amount from the compensation scheme to the bank account known to us, within three weeks. If you still have an outstanding invoice, we first deduct this amount from the compensation.
You can contact us about this via 020 - 700 9099 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The amount is a percentage of your annual license for music usage in a commercial, publicly accessible space. In consultation with representative market parties each SIC code (Standard Industrial Classifications) (SBI-code) is examined in terms of percentage of compensation during the coronavirus crisis.
If you have questions about your own situation, you can contact us by phone on 020 - 700 90 99 or by email at email@example.com.
